Nutritional Therapy for Military Spouses

Does this Sound Like You?

As a military spouse, you adapt to every change, deployment, and challenge with grit and grace, but the truth is, chronic stress takes a toll. The fatigue never lifts. The brain fog won’t clear. And you constantly feel like you’re running on empty. The good news is, there’s a natural and healthy solution to reverse all of this and create lasting change. When you experience the benefits of personalized nutritional therapy for military spouses, you’ll feel ready to meet the challenges of military life head on – and thrive.

5 Common Struggles of Military Spouses

If you’re a military spouse, you’ve probably heard people refer to you as the “heart” of the team or the “lifeblood” of the family. The fact is, your presence is so important.

But you also might silently doubt your ability to respond to everything asked of you. Some days, it might feel like you have nothing but fumes in your tank; even getting out of bed can feel impossible.

Numerous studies show that your experience is shared by many. If you’ve experienced any of the struggles listed here, please know that you are not alone – and there is a pathway forward.

Chronic stress results from many sources. Studies show that military spouses experience high levels of stress because of frequent moves, loneliness during deployments, financial limitations, unemployment, and child care complications, to name a few. Overwhelming stress and increased experiences with anxiety can impact physical and mental health.

Many military spouses would love to create a better self-care routine. Joining a gym, following a healthy nutrition plan, or just getting out for a walk with friends all sound like a great idea – if only there were enough time. In fact, making time for self-care was cited as one of the top critical problems for spouses while their service members were deployed.

Challenges of the military lifestyle can create a complex web of mental health struggles for military spouses. About half of military spouses see a counselor during their service member’s career and many struggle with finding a new therapist after a PCS. Frequent moves, combined with other stressors, can lead to increased experiences with depression and anxiety.

Caregiver spouses bring an incredible sense of dedication to service members, who may have been injured or who endures issues like PTSD. But studies show that caregiver spouses experience a complicated burden. Finding the right physical and mental health care for their service member can be quite difficult. Caregiver spouses’ physical and mental health often suffer in the meantime, and they feel isolated from friends and family. Many report that they have no support at all.

Studies show that times of increased stress, such as deployments or lengthy TDYs, can influence symptoms of physical pain, such as general chronic pain, joint pain, or  irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
